What does “80%” or “unfinished” mean?
An 80% frame is a firearm component that is not yet classified as a firearm by the ATF, as it requires specific machining to become functional. This kit includes the jig and drill bits necessary for you to complete the frame yourself, typically involving drilling pin holes and milling the recoil spring channel. No FFL transfer is required for purchase.
What parts do I need to complete the build?
This is a frame kit. To build a complete firearm, you will need to source a separate parts kit or “upper parts” (slide, barrel, recoil spring assembly, and all internal slide components) and a “lower parts kit” (trigger mechanism, pins, and slide lock lever) compatible with a Glock® 17 Gen 3 pattern.
Is this compatible with Glock® 19 magazines?
Yes. The PF940CL frame uses the compact grip module, which is designed to use Glock® 19 magazines (15-round standard). However, it will also accept larger-capacity Glock® 17 magazines with the magazine sleeve or extension for a full-length grip.
What tools are required for assembly?
Beyond the provided jig and drill bits, you will need a hand drill or drill press, a vise to secure the jig, various hand tools (punches, hammer, screwdrivers), and a rotary tool like a Dremel with milling bits for the recoil spring channel. Safety glasses and patience are highly recommended.
